Technology overview

What silicone roof coatings are

Silicone roof coatings cure by reacting with atmospheric moisture to form a highly weather- and UV-resistant film. They are widely used to restore low-slope roofs and are generally regarded as tolerant of standing water, which makes them a common candidate for roofs with drainage limitations.

As with any restoration coating, the existing membrane must be sound, clean and compatible, and adhesion is confirmed by testing. Recoating a silicone surface in the future requires silicone-compatible products, which is considered during system selection.

Role in the system: Primer, base and reflective finish coats in a silicone restoration assembly, and the protective top coat over spray-foam roofing.
