Vehicular Traffic-Coating System
A layered concrete-deck assembly combining crack and joint treatment, waterproofing, aggregate and a wear-resistant traffic finish for parking structures and ramps.
Is this the right assembly?
- A concrete deck carries vehicular traffic and must be waterproofed
- Parking structures, ramps and lanes need a durable wear surface
- Cracks and joints require treatment before waterproofing
- Slip resistance and lane marking are required
These are indicators, not a specification. Suitability is confirmed by a project review.

What we assess first
- Concrete soundness, cracks and spalls
- Existing coatings and their bond
- Moisture in the slab
- Traffic type, turning areas and ramps
- Joint locations and movement
- Mechanically prepare the concrete per specification
- Repair spalls, cracks and joints
- Confirm slab moisture is acceptable
- Prime the prepared deck
- Moving and construction joints
- Drains and low points
- Ramps, turns and speed bumps
- Curbs, columns and terminations
How it goes together
Prepare deck
Mechanically prepare and clean the concrete.
Repair & detail
Repair the slab and treat cracks and joints.
Prime & waterproof
Prime and apply the waterproofing membrane.
Broadcast aggregate
Broadcast aggregate into the wear layer for grip.
Top coat
Apply the wear-resistant traffic finish and markings.
What it delivers
- Waterproofs the deck while carrying traffic
- Wear- and abrasion-resistant finish
- Slip-resistant, markable surface
Where to take care
- Requires sound, properly prepared concrete
- Joint movement must be accommodated by design
- Weather- and moisture-sensitive application
- Apply within the specified temperature and slab-moisture limits
- Protect from traffic and rain until cured
- Observe recoat windows between layers
- Slab moisture and preparation verified
- Crack and joint treatment inspected
- Aggregate broadcast rate checked
- Wear-coat coverage and cure verified
Backed when specified & installed correctly
